How does being queer inform your work?

It constantly reminds me that there are so many individuals on this Earth that have their own unique ways of learning, experiencing day-to-day activities, and abilities. It reminds me that not everyone falls into the same mold. It reminds me to welcome and love each and every person, and it reminds me that love truly overpowers hate.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

I'm a little confused by this question, but I will say that I am obsessed with queer composers and musicians. I've recently been obsessed with Chappell Roan, but I have studied composers like Samuel Barber, Nico Muhly, Jennifer Higdon, Pytor Tchaikovsky, and more. I am obsessed with the voguing and ballroom scenes -- which also means that I am obsessed with Beyonce's RENAISSANCE album. Haha!

Which other queer people inspire you?

I am constantly inspired by drag queens for their strength, wit, and courage against hateful politicians. I am also deeply inspired by those in government positions that are actively representing our community against a divided Congress -- both federal and state. I am forever inspired by Marsha P. Johnson and the many black and brown transgender souls that fought for LGBTQIA+ rights. <3
