I'm a designer who draws odd things, has designy thoughts and forms design systems for brands, organizations and movements.

How does being queer inform your work?

Being queer, informs my work by how I see everything and translate strategy and messaging into visual design. When I see bias in the plan that informs the design I'm being asked to create I speak up, I have to, even if it means being released from a project. In these moments, being queer informs my work because I'm standing with and for the LGBTQIA+ community within the greater design community which wields a lot of messaging power in the world.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

Right now it’s this new Progress Pride flag by Daniel Quasar. It feels much inclusive and highlights the progress we still need to make in regards to equality, equity and justice for queer Black and Indigenous people of color and Trans people. The new flag design was inspired by Gilbert Baker (creator of the original Pride flag), Monica Helms (creator of the Trans Pride flag) and Amber Hikes (creator of the More Color, More Pride flag in Philadelphia).
