How does being queer inform your work?

Being queer comes with a different approach to everyday life, work, love, and society than others. User Interface design and research requires an understanding that every person operates on a different perspective, and that perspective impacts all facets of a person's life, including how they interact with interfaces. I focus on designing solutions that are inclusive, creative, and functional for all thanks to my unique perspective as a trans woman.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

I adore art made of characters, bodies, love, struggle, and queer life made my smaller creators, as it feels the most real and connected with LGBTQ expression.

Which other queer people inspire you?

I have always been inspired by the works of Wendy Carlos as a music fan, and her pioneering of sounds that influenced music with her explorations of electronic sound. I'm also always inspired by the incredible queer music artists and actors that are gaining more traction by the day, and the people in my life that I know are making life work for them despite any barriers in place.
