How does being queer inform your work?

Growing up queer makes me compassionate for my hugely diverse (size, race, gender expression) clientele. I understand what it's like to feel like an outsider and how to find yourself through personal expression. I also have a tendency to be ahead in trend, both in clothing and in politics.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

Cabaret with Joel Grey resonated with me from youth through art school.

Which other queer people inspire you?

Laverne Cox, Buck Angel, Jonathon VanNess, Le Tigre, James Bidgood, David Hockney, Nina Flowers, Rufus Wainwright, Jean Paul Gaultier. Lots of lesser known illustrators, craftspeople, and the local drag queen.
