How does being queer inform your work?

I am inspired daily by the queer designers that came before me. First, I have been honored to work with LA-based queer writers, photographers, artists + creators as clients. Second, I use a lot of vintage in my work with clients + am especially drawn to vintage from the 1970s through the 1990s: an era where we saw a lot of decadence + hedonism in design heavily led by queer designers.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

I draw inspiration from a lot of sources, but I have been lucky enough to have past design projects inspired by 1980s Times Square, Studio 54, bisexual lighting, + writers' salons.

Which other queer people inspire you?

I am particularly inspired by the stories of queer designers Eileen Gray, Angelo Donghia, Karl Springer, and especially queer designer + AIDS activist Steve Chase.
