How does being queer inform your work?

My colourful, kitsch and camp imagination is full of patterns, music and energy - which spills into all aspects of my life and work.  My artistic voice is continually evolving and is primarily driven by my desire to express emotion and connect with others.  I using abstraction and theatrical motion to express the joy and the pain I’ve experienced in my human experience - i want that to be felt and seen in my work.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

Animated short "In a Heartbeat" by Esteban Bravo and Beth David -- or Yzma from the Emperor's New Groove!

Which other queer people inspire you?

Carmen Miranda. While she might not have been officially part of the queer community, those iconic hats and her vibrant persona scream queer energy to me. She embodies a kind of joyful exuberant flair that inspires me to embrace my own sense of style and fun!
