How does being queer inform your work?

Being queer and neurodivergent has deeply shaped my empathy and understanding. It’s taught me that not all problems are universal—many challenges are deeply personal and unique. My role as a designer isn’t to “fix” people’s problems, but rather to create experiences that empower individuals in their everyday lives.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

I’m particularly inspired by Keith Haring’s work, especially his activism and outspoken support for the LGBT community. Living near his iconic mural in Collingwood, Melbourne, serves as a constant reminder of his legacy and the power of visual culture to drive change.

Which other queer people inspire you?

Lady Gaga has been a profound inspiration to me. She’s openly acknowledged her career’s roots in the LGBT community, consistently advocated for queer youth and trans rights, confronted hatred head-on, and championed everyone who’s ever felt like an outsider or a bit different. Her authenticity and resilience continue to motivate me daily.
