How does being queer inform your work?

I am aiming to work for a company that is truly committed to diversity and is intent on making a positive difference in the world. Being queer, I want to make sure I work somewhere where I feel valued and respected, while also working towards something that is purposeful and will help people or animals.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

Drag is my favourite visual piece of queer culture. For the longest time, I only knew about Drag Queens. And while there are definitely fabulous Drag Queens, my mind was really blown when I discovered Drag Kings. It's absolutely amazing to me, to use makeup, something traditionally only used by AFAB people, and transform yourself into anything you want, whether it's to look like another gender or another entity entirely. It's a beautiful art form that isn't always appreciated as it should be.

Which other queer people inspire you?

I am honestly inspired by so many queer people. Some of the big names are P!nk, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, and Miley Cyrus. However, there are also many ever-day queer people who I look up to. For instance, Mercury Stardust is a regular trans person whose really made a huge difference in my life. They help me feel like there is a place for me in this world no matter how tough things get. And simply seeing trans/queer people, is always enough to make me believe even more that I deserve to be here and take up space. Having grown up in a religious, conservative household, nothing makes me happier than queer joy!
