How does being queer inform your work?

At my core, is a vivid, colourful, kitsch and camp imagination; full of flowers, music and energy - which I try to incorporate pieces of into all aspects of my work. I do find that after many years of a corporate environment, where some of my ideas were 'too far' or 'too out there' - I feel like I'm still in the process of evolving into my full queer, artistic self. Being freelance, the more of my kitsch, camp style that I put into my work - the more confident the end product turns out.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

Animated short "In a Heartbeat" by Esteban Bravo and Beth David -- or Yzma from the Emperor's New Groove!

Which other queer people inspire you?

There are many artists that I am inspired by but I'm not sure where they sit on the queer spectrum. Either way, a lot of my inspiration is drawn from the natural world and samba music. Carmen Miranda is an inspiration -- and by all means, is very queer -- but I'm not sure if she'd identify this way?!
