How does being queer inform your work?

Queerness is inherently tied to pushing the boundaries of social acceptability—I challenge norms by incorporating kink, music, auto, and generalized queer culture in ways that make it easy for other queer people to recognize my queerness, but simply appear visually pleasing to those not in the know.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

Happy Together directed by Wong Kar-Wai.

Which other queer people inspire you?

Music guides my inspiration—artists such as Hikaru Utada, Arca, Amaarae, Omar Apollo, and Kelela are all deeply inspirational in their ability to manifest their visions to life. Queer visual artists such as genderfail, Tomás Castro Neves, Anna Warfield, Andy Campbell, and Justin Yoon, among others.
