How does being queer inform your work?

My queer identity greatly inspires my work. A lot of my work is based off of my experience of being queer, whether that be explicit or more abstract. My queerness is represented in my work as a mix of rough and refined elements as the juxtaposition represents my reality of trying to exist in a cishetnormative world.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

I love DIY punk culture. As someone who loves music I am in awe of queer people's ability to create amazing and powerful pieces of wearable art. Whether that be affordable drag outfits for a fundraiser or handmade and hand sewn patches for a battle jacket I love DIY fashion and personally have made and shown off my own pieces.

Which other queer people inspire you?

I am inspired by local queer event runners. In particular I am inspired by my friend Jeng Au who runs multiple events for trans and queer folks and in particular I am inspired by how they collaborate with so many other members of the community and their ability to bring people together to create a beautiful and mutually benefitial event.
